THE WINNERS OF THE FIRST UNICAF UNIVERSITY ESSAY COMPETITION IN KENYA ARE ANNOUNCED

The three winners of the first Unicaf University essay competition in Kenya begin the new year with the precious gift of affordable, high quality higher education. The first Unicaf University essay competition in Kenya inspired hundreds of school leavers, graduates and young professionals under 35 to send essays and compete for scholarships and free tablets. The topic of the competition was “Discuss the role of Higher Education as a tool for career advancement” and the arguments contained in the essays submitted show that young Kenyans consider quality higher education as a great tool to launch a successful career or to advance professionally.

Present at the awards ceremony, held in January at the Unicaf offices in Nairobi, were journalists and editors from Radio Africa and the NTV Media group, as well as the winners of the competition, escorted by family and friends, who came along to witness this proud moment. The three winners of the competition are: Gabriel Ngige Muthoni, 23 years old, an intern with the Lamu County government, who holds a Bachelor of Environmental Conservation & Natural Resources. Gabriel wins a full scholarship to study online for the Master’s degree of his choice and a free tablet! The second prize, an 85% scholarship for an online Master’s degree and a free tablet was won by Everlyne Hoka Omulando, a 29 year old teacher in Nairobi, who has a Bachelor of Education Arts.
