Programme description

The BBA offers students expertise in Business Administration and provides them with an ability to demonstrate knowledge of business processes and to assess industry attractiveness, identify risks and opportunities of doing business in a global environment by choosing and applying appropriate methodologies. Additionally, the Bachelor in Business Administration is an innovative program that will help students to develop the business and management competencies they need to have a successful career either in multinational corporations or starting their own company. Finally, the BBA provides a well-rounded business education with a focus on global business operations, emerging markets, and technology-enabled organizations. A summary of what this program contains:
•    Management theories that offer an advanced understanding of the management of organizations and the changing external context in which they operate;
•    Different numbers of business strategies and models that can be used while taking advantage of the opportunities for a systematic development of skills, objective’ analysis, and evaluation, towards the development of confidence in effectively appraising and implementing management tactics;
•    Case studies to increase the ability to apply knowledge and understanding of business and management to complex issues, both systematically and creatively, and to have a critical understanding of how business and management practice may be improved

Programme objectives
The objectives of the programme are the following:
1.    To aid students gain expertise in Business Administration and associated fields
2.    To demonstrate knowledge of business processes and an ability to assess industry attractiveness – identify risks and opportunities of doing business in a global environment
3.    To be able to choose and apply appropriate quantitative or qualitative methodologies to analyse problems and utilize modern technological and analytical tools necessary to support decision-making
4.    To develop leadership and organizational skills towards communicating vision, inspiring employees and promoting innovation and change
5.    To be able to identify and evaluate ethical issues and communicate justifiable resolutions for practical situations
6.    To enable students to develop an in-depth understanding of the various business aspects and learn a broad range of managerial capabilities, problem solving and communication skills

Programme learning outcomes

Upon completion of this Bachelor students will be able:
1.    To manage issues related to an organisational environment and apply conceptual principles, methods and tools to solve business related problems
2.    To identify the increasing complex nature of global business and economy and its impact on the management and growth of an organisation
3.    To streamline business processes and procedures to meet challenges and excel under intense competition
4.    To adopt an ethical approach in the management of corporate practices to address and resolve heightened pressure from government bodies and international opportunities
5.    To critically asses collected data, analyse and interpret findings to make informed decisions
6.    To identify and use suitable research and business simulation tools
7.    To utilise skills that are required in negotiation and conflict resolution for re-enforcing value added collaborations
8.    To effectively communicate in the context of business (oral and written communication)
9.    To demonstrate a mastery of the core functional areas of business including accounting, economics/finance, marketing, management, planning & strategy
10.    To apply best practices of business administration in the functional areas of business

Entry Requirements

Admission Requirements

The general admission requirements for entry to Unicaf University Uganda Bachelor degree programmes are as outlined below.  Students are advised to contact the Office of Admissions to find out more about the range of equivalent international academic qualifications accepted.

  • Regular admission to a Bachelor degree programme requires the 5 passes on the Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE); and two principal passes on the Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education (UACE) obtained at the same sitting; or international equivalent when approved by the Uganda National Examinations Board (UNEB). Applicants aged 25 and above who have 5 UCE passes and have passed the Mature Entry Examination with at least 50% or above from an approved Higher Education Institution may also be considered for entry.
  • Applicants with a Diploma obtained at credit in a related field of study may be considered for entry.
  • English proficiency; Grade 6 (Credit) or better on the Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE) or equivalent
  • Up to date CV
  • Copy of valid passport or national ID

In addition to a strong academic record, extra-curricular activities, leadership skills and other relevant background information may be taken into account.
